In memory of

Stephen Bennett

September 24, 1953 -  January 14, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stephen John Bennett.

Stephen passed away peacefully in the presence of his loving daughters, Elaine and Laurie, and his girlfriend Pat, at St. Joseph’s General Hospital in Elliot Lake on Sunday, January 14, 2024, after a brave fight against cancer.

Loving son of Grace and Percival (predeceased). He is survived by his brother Paul (Dianne). Beloved husband of former spouse, Joanne. Father of Elaine (Alan), and Laurie (Doug). Grandfather of Carter, Everly, and Gemma.

Stephen was born, and spent his youth, in Toronto. From a young age, he enjoyed summers at the family cottage, ‘Trails End Camp’, at Lost Channel on Lake Kawigamog. He married and purchased a family home in Richmond Hill, where he had two daughters. He spent many years living in Innisfil with his family. Stephen had a successful career as a top selling Sales Manager for industrial tools in Toronto and Barrie.

Stephen spent his final years in retirement up north, enjoying the company of friends at the cottage on Lake Kawigamog, and in Port Loring and Elliot Lake. Stephen tried his best to make a difference. He made an impact on all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held at ELGIN MILLS FUNERAL CENTRE, 1591 Elgin Mills Road East, Richmond Hill, ON (905-737-1720) on Friday, February 9, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. A visitation will begin 1 hour prior at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to be made to St. Joseph's General Hospital and the Sudbury Cancer Centre.

Two brothers share a special, mostly unpoken bond. My brother Stephen and I were raised mostly in Thornhill in a loving family, blessed with two remarkably supportive parents, Percival and Grace Bennett, and fortunate enough to have found happiness with families of our own. Fond memories come rushing back of early school days, holiday trips to Cape Cod and Maine, family hijinks, attending each other's weddings, watching our children grow, pioneering at the cottage, and long talks fishing in the aluminum boat. No one cared more about, or did more for, his parents. Separated by geography, we are forever joined in our hearts.

I was so sad to learn of Stephen's passing. Our children all grew up together and we had many birthday party's and fun family time. Stephen was always the first one to help if we needed it, he truly did make a difference.

Rest in peace Stephen.
