In memory of

Stephan Hryb

October 26, 1934 -  January 10, 2020

Passed away peacefully at Mackenzie Health-Long Term Care in his 86th year. Predeceased by his wife Barbara ‘nee Trimble’. A great dad to Brett (Jennifer) and a proud Papa to Emily and Mason. Steve will be greatly missed by his partner Brenda. He will be lovingly remembered by his sister Dorothy and was brother to William (deceased). Friends will be received at ELGIN MILLS CEMETERY & FUNERAL CENTRE, 1591 Elgin Mills Rd. E., Richmond Hill on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. A funeral will follow at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, Health and Stroke Foundation or Mackenzie Long Term Care Centre.

Steve was a long time employee of Bell Canada, starting his career right out of high school as an installer and working his way up to a level 2 manager at the time of his retirement. He was literally the definition of a handy man who could and would take apart and repair almost anything from furnaces to sinks to anything with a motor or electronics. He was equally adept at every form of renovation with his house (and several others) constantly being upgraded or improved by his hand. Always generous with his time, Steve added finance to his repetoire and helped more than a few family and friends with their finances or taxes.

After the death of his wife Barbara (Babe), Steve met Brenda who became his constant companion and support, most especially in the final years of his life as he battled dementia. She was and has been an incredible source of strength and support for not only Steve but for the rest of his family as well.

Many memories of Brett and Shaun, my mom and Barb and of course Steve. While things were not great at the end, it seems he had a long full life personally and professionally and was fortunate to have a loving family including 2 supportive partners by his side. My sympathies to you Brett, Jennifer, Mason and Emily. A life well lived and Steve will truly be missed I am sure. Erin

My sympathies to Brett and the rest of your family. I have fond memories of Steve from when I was a child growing up in the same neighborhood as Brett. Looking back, he always struck me as a very decent, down to earth father who was a great role model for all he encountrred. Rest in peace.

Shaun
