In memory of

Stavros Tsimicalis

February 12, 1927 -  May 21, 2023

It is with great sadness that we share the loss of our father and grandfather in his 96th year. Stavros passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 21st with his daughter at his side. At a young age, he ran the family-owned coffee shop where he developed his strong work ethic. In 1955 he emigrated from Greece to Canada to start a new life. He married his childhood friend, Margarita, whom he was devoted to for 65 years but sadly, he lost her 8 months ago and the loss was too much to endure. He was the proud father of Stan (Effi) and Dimitra (Spiro) and loving ‘Pappou’ of Stephen, Bill, Ari and his wife Diana, and Stephanie. Stavros is predeceased by his parents Stelios and Dimitra and his brothers Petro and Thanasis. He is survived by his siblings Panago, Sophia and Amalia. He was devoted to his family and helped friends in need. He built a wonderful life through hard work, building up his community and providing for his family.
Stavros loved life, enjoyed his Greek music taking his family to dances and concerts. Music was always playing in the house and the car. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed spending time in the sun. He was one of the original founding members of the Skoura-Varvitsa Brotherhood and in 2000 he was honoured for the years he served as president. In his retirement, he split his time between the two countries he adored with summers in Greece playing card games with his many friends while enjoying his coffee at the village cafe. He was kind, had a great sense of humour, a quick wit and generous. He was a gentleman. The family will receive friends and relatives at Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. Stavros will rest at Elgin Mills Cemetery, Richmond Hill. Instead of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.

May his memory be eternal.
