In memory of

Stanley R. Hawkins

November 21, 1922 -  November 9, 2016

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stan, who died a few weeks before his 94th birthday. Stan is predeceased by his loving parents, Olive and Sid. He is survived by his adoring wife of 61 years, Audrey, his loving son Cecil (Susan), and his loving granddaughters Amanda and Erin (Rob). Stan was an RCAF bomber navigator in the European Theatre during World War II. In 1947 at 25 years old he founded Canadian Erectors Limited, a heavy industrial manufacturing and construction company. Stan was Chief Executive Officer of the company from 1960 to 1982, and Chairman until 2002. Stan loved flying. He flew his Cessna 185 "Amphib" across Canada, all over the Arctic, and as far south as the Caribbean. Stan had a successful and happy life. Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Sunnybrook Veteran Centre's Dorothy Macham unit. In lieu of flowers please donate to the charity of your choice.

It is with great sadness I respond to the news of Stan's death. He was a great friend to my parents and a big part of both my life and my families. We have been privileged to have been included in so many of the Hawkins family occasions and share in so many happy memories. Stan exemplified kindness, class and generosity. We will miss his sense of humour, his laugh and that twinkle in his eye when he shared a special thought or joke with you. Our hearts go out to Audrey, Cecil, Susan, Amanda, Erin and Rob at this sad time.

I have known Stan since my days at Laurentide Aviation. An incredibly gracious man with a warm heart. My he have many flights up there in whatever airplane he enjoys. Sad to see him go. My condolences to the family.
