In memory of

Stanley Cheuk-Ying Fung

January 22, 2023

Stanley Cheuk-Ying Fung, 75 years old of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, passed away on Sunday, January 22nd, due to a catastrophic stroke.

Stanley was born in Hong Kong in 1947. He attended Hong Kong Baptist University where he met his future wife, Dora. After graduating, they married the following year and moved to Toronto where they shared a loving 50 years together.

He was a man of character and principle. He held a steadfast belief in helping others – not to gain goodwill or popularity, but because he felt that’s simply what people should do. He valued hard work and upheld the importance of learning and bettering oneself. These qualities and life lessons will be carried forward by his family, loved ones and all those who knew him.

He loved to laugh, tell corny jokes and share ridiculous puns. He felt that everything should be documented carefully down to the smallest detail. His hobbies included tracking gas prices, maintaining the cleanest driveway on the block, and chatting with dear friends, his wonderful former colleagues, terrific neighbours, and perfectly random strangers (particularly at his favourite stores like Canadian Tire and Home Depot). More than anything, he treasured spending every possible moment with his beloved granddaughters.

Stanley is survived by his wife Dora, his children Ernest (and his wife Emily), Herbert and Tina, and his granddaughters.

A visitation will be held at York Cemetery and Funeral Home located at 160 Beecroft Rd., North York, Ontario, Canada, on Friday, February 3rd from 5:00-8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, given the unfortunate cause of his passing, or North York General Hospital in gratitude for the exceptional care Stanley received in his final days.

My late dear friend, I would have loved to share more time with you touring in Hong Kong and China last few years if not the unexpected pandemic disruption to travel.

I know you had a good times with your old high school classmates, sharing a laugh or two and good food.

RIP
