In memory of

Soon Han Kim

June 6, 1938 -  June 20, 2019

Soon Han Kim (Yoon) was born on June 6, 1938 in Seoul, South Korea. She was the oldest of three children. When the Korean War broke out in 1950, the family fled and faced many hardships, including the death of her father. She traveled many hundreds of miles to escape the battles, often carrying her littlest brother on her back. After the war, she attended Koryo (Korea) University and became one of a handful of women to graduate with a law degree.
It was here where she met her future husband, Chong Woon Kim, a fellow law student. They married in 1964 and a few years later, immigrated to Canada where they raised three daughters, Shiny, Mia and Patty, and were later blessed with five grandchildren, Ashley, Brandon, Ethan, Biko and Elsie.

She passed away peacefully at Markham Stouffville Hospital on June 20, 2019, at 9:30am, surrounded by her loving family.
