Simon Robert Alistair Dalrymple

‘I am that’
Nisargadatta Maharaj

Simon passed away suddenly on Thursday May 30, 2019 at home, after many medical challenges, which he endured with grace. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Simon grew up in Cypress and Salisbury UK, and came to Toronto in the early 70’s. He began his TV/Film Videographer career with the BBC Technical College in Evesham, UK.
In his 50 year career, he worked on programs such as Dr. Who, Top of the Pops, Second City, The Elephant Show, Juno’s, Olympics, So You Think You Can Dance, Dragon’s Den, and many others. He made many contributions to, and was among the founding members of, the Chinmaya Mission Toronto.
He will be lovingly remembered by Candace, his wife of 45 years. Simon will be missed by his older brother Andrew(Betty) and all his family in England, his sister-in-law Joan Tauber and brother-in-law David Bespalko(Tracy). He was a much loved Uncle to Jayme, Tara, Allie, Cole and Aiya. Simon will always be in the hearts of friends, neighbours, his television work family in Toronto, as well as his Chinmaya Mission family in Toronto, Niagara and around the world.
He loved travel, photography, painting, gardening, cryptic crossword, speedily driving his scooter everywhere and spending time with loved ones. He was a warm, gentle, caring, kind, and intelligent gentleman. He was a mentor to colleagues and family alike; there are just not enough wonderful adjectives to describe Simon. His passion was compassion, may his love support us all.
