In memory of

Shuk Yue Chow

October 24, 1928 -  February 14, 2024

Shuk Yue Ho was born October 24th, 1928, in Hong Kong. She was the 4th child to 6 siblings, 2 brothers and 4 sisters.

During the war, her schooling stopped at grade 5 and she sadly lost both parents and all contact with her siblings except her oldest brother, Stephen Ho. In 1946, Shuk Yue married Chiu Kwong Chow who was a work colleague to Stephen. In the following 10 years, they had 3 children together: Lily, Stephen, and Belinda.

They decided to finally leave Hong Kong in 1978 and immigrated to Canada to join their children and two grandchildren. Shuk Yue was a housewife and would devote the rest of her life to taking care of her husband, children, and grandchildren.

Shuk Yue and Chiu Kwong made many new friends in Canada after joining the Scarborough Senior Chinese Association. They took numerous trips to China with these friends and enjoyed singing and performing on stage with the Chinese Opera class.

Shuk Yue was great in cooking, sewing, knitting and of course playing mahjong, her favourite hobby. She would win almost all her games and even named herself Irene (I win!) as her English name.

On February 14th, 2024, Shuk Yue passed away peacefully at Mon Sheong LTC with family by her side. Forever loved and will always be remembered.

Shuk Yue Chow, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother to:

Children: Lily (Ronald), Stephen (Molly), Belinda (Donald)

Grand Children: Daniel (Gloria), Christina (Dwight), Melissa (Zhao), Christopher (Nancy), Sandra, Calvin

Great Grand Children: Dylan, Ethan

Thank you Auntie Irene for taking care of me during my school years in Toronto. I have never forgotten your love and kindness. You will be in my heart always and I cherish my memories of you. Rest in peace. My love to you and my cousins. May we find peace and comfort in our memories of you and knowing you lived a long and happy life.
