Shui Ping Lau passed peacefully, surrounded by family, on October 18, 2024, at the age of 107, at St. Michael's Hospital after a long and fulfilling life.
She was born in Taishan, Guangdong, China. Predeceased by her husband Kit Wai Choy. Lovingly remembered by her devoted daughter Lily Ng, 5 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Shui Ping immigrated to Canada in 1969. She was very hardworking, independent, and dedicated to her family. Her many hobbies included: early morning Tai Chi in the park, sewing, music, singing, gardening vegetables and flowers, and travelling to China-her last trip was at age 90. Major holidays and birthdays were celebrated with great food and enjoyment. She was very active into her 90's walking every day.
She took great pride in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Always wishing them good health and encouraging them to eat more to grow stronger.
Shui Ping was a favoured resident at The Heritage Nursing Home known for her love of a good bath and tasty food. She read the newspaper daily and loved to share current events. She would famously give you a thumbs up and a smile if she was happy or a frowny thumbs down if she was displeased. The family thanks all the doctors, nurses, and PSW's at the Home for all the love and care our beloved centenarian received.
A service will be held at Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre on Wednesday, October 23, 2024. Visitation 10am - 11am, Funeral 11am - 12pm, and Interment 12:30pm.
