In memory of

Shui Hwa Chen

February 17, 1927 -  February 13, 2019

Chen Shui Hwa (née Koo) – 陳顧雪華, a devoted wife, loving mother, and caring grandmother passed peacefully on Wednesday, February 13th, 2019 at the age of 91 in the presence of her daughter, and two of her grandchildren.

Shui Hwa was born on February 17th, 1927 (lunar calendar) in the city of Suzhou (蘇州) to loving parents, and is the third of an elder brother and four sisters. She married the late Tindle Chen, and together raised their 5 children – 4 sons and 1 daughter – all of whom are now happily married, and have brought her 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Shui Hwa was a devoted Christian who loved caring for others, and did everything she could to help people. She constantly found joy even in the midst of adversity, and was always resilient in the face of challenges. Shui Hwa displayed elegance and tenacity as she spent the majority of her adulthood balancing entrepreneurship and parenthood. Shui Hwa boldly decided to move to Canada, leading her family into a new world where she helped raise several of her younger grandchildren. She was a spiritual woman whose life bore witness to the goodness of God. Shui Hwa will be deeply missed by her friends, family, and all whose lives were touched by her.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 23rd at 10am at the Pine Hills Funeral Centre.

In lieu of flowers or gifts to her family, please consider making a donation to the Yee Hong Centre For Geriatric Care – Markham Location, in memory of Chen Shui Hwa. We are hoping that we can give back to the community that served her so well in the past year, such that we can help improve the facilities for future residents.

Please accept our family's sincere condolences. We pray that your mom is blessed and in the comfort of God, the Almighty Father. 🙏🏻 She lived a long beautiful life and was surrounded by a large family. It's a sad moment that she is gone, but don't let it overshadow the great accomplishments that she had made. Treat the moment as a celebration of her life. We'll make a donation to Yee Hong in loving memory of her.

Dear Pearl, Danny, Johnathan, Jessica,

I am sorry you had to lose someone so important and special in your life. I’ll be praying for you and the rest of your family

Moms are special people, especially ones like yours. I could tell she was an amazing lady.

Your mother was the type of person who inspired integrity in those around her; she encouraged others to be the best people they could be. That’s reflected in your life and follow Jesus.

May you find encouragement in God's promises and comfort in His presence.

In Christian Sympathy
