In memory of

Shirley Mason Broslaw

May 15, 1928 -  August 7, 2022

It is with deep sorrow and much love that the family of Shirley Mason Broslaw, (nee Green) share that our Mom departed our world, to once again be with all those who were dear to her, on Sunday August 7th. She had two wishes for passing, that it not be at Christmas time and that she could just go to sleep and not wake up. She got those wishes.

Mom was born on May 15th, 1928 to Ethel & Frederick Green, 9th child of 10.
She had a normal childhood for that era, went to school, enjoyed her Mom’s baking, and was well protected by the family dog Tess, who as she got older would wait at the bus stop for Mom.

Mom met our father, Walter Broslaw while working as a switchboard operator for Bell Canada, where as she explained it he was hanging from the rafters! They married July 24th 1953 and had their first daughter July 1st 1954, followed by 3 other daughters over nine years.

Mom, was a stay at home Mom, and devoted her time to raising 4 strong, kind & beautiful daughters. She joined the choir at Grace Presbyterian Church where she spent many years singing, being a soloist at church weddings, and cantatas. She was saucy and always up for some sort of prank like trick or treating for wine at Halloween. She volunteered for over 20 years at Scarborough Health Network Centenary Hospital at the volunteer run gift shop and even did the buying for the infant department.

In later years, Mom & Dad divorced and she eventually met and got together with Howard Norman. They enjoyed the casino, travelling, and helping the girls every chance they got, until Howie had to enter long term care and passed away 5 years ago.
Mom eventually decided that she wanted to downsize and move into a retirement home where she met many new friends and kept the place hopping with her quick wit.

Mom leaves behind her younger brother Ronald Green (Gail), her daughters, Connie (Owen deceased), Carol, Janet (Jim), & Donna (Sol) along with her grandchildren Haley (Adam), Jona, Brileigh, & Hanna, Goddaughters Jill O’Hare & Lori McKinley.

We were so blessed to have our Mom for as long as we did and being totally of sound mind. We can just imagine the greeting she received as she entered the pearly gates! So many loved ones for her to join.

We had a pet name for her....Chicken, and so our Chicken has flown the coop, a life well lived. Love you Mom.
