In memory of

Shirley Evelyn Scott

July 8, 1934 -  July 10, 2018

Shirley Evelyn Scott, 84, of Toronto passed away peacefully on July 10, 2018 with family by her side.

Shirley was born on July 8, 1934 in Toronto, and married and raised three children. She worked and retired from North York General Hospital. Shirley had moved to a retirement home recently and was enjoying her life there. She had a lovely day celebrating her birthday on July 8 in Collingwood with family shortly before her passing. Shirley was known for her kindness and caring nature, and she was generous and warm to all who knew her. Throughout her life Shirley was like a second mom to many and would always be there for anyone who needed her. She loved music (especially Gladys Knight, Donna Summer, Barry White), dancing, enjoying a glass of wine, a good party, playing Scrabble, watching nature shows and tennis, and especially spending time with family and friends. Often that was done during many trips to Muskoka, dancing the night away at many boathouse parties, down south to Nassau and later to Florida. She was the most loving and loved Gramma - her children and four grandchildren were a great joy to her, and her amazing spirit will live on in them.

Shirley was a beloved mother, sister and grandmother, preceded by her parents Newton and Evelyn Biles, and her brothers Don and Paul. She is survived by her children Randy, Roberta and David, her brother Bruce, and her grandchildren Evan, Amanda, Del and Jesse.

Special thanks go to her friends at her apartment on Jackes Ave., The Annex Retirement Home on Spadina Rd., and the staff at St. Mary's Hospital in Kitchener, for all of the support and care she was given in the last stage of her life.

A celebration of Shirley's life will be held on Sunday July 15th at Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre, at 375 Mount Pleasant Road, Toronto, Ontario M4T 2V8, with a reception at 2 - 6 pm and speeches beginning at 4:00 pm. Food and drinks will be served. Please bring any pictures and/or fond memories of your time with Shirley to share with us.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in Shirley's name may be made to:

Shirley and I met in grade 7 at Forest Hill Collegiate and have been buddies ever since. We were supposed to have lunch Shirl and you stood me up, I guess that will have to wait. You were a good friend and we had a lot of good times. Behave yourself. Love Bev

Our deepest regrets to the family. Shirley holds a special place in our hearts and memories. Through her many visits with us at the cottage and special events, Shirley could be counted on to provide a calm and at the same time energy to life that always made everyone comfortable. She shared her stories and received ours as if we were all part of the family. She is missed and will be missed.
