In memory of

雷璇進先生 Sherwin Suen Chun Lui

September 19, 1962 -  April 6, 2022

Sherwin Suen Chun Lui passed away peacefully and comfortably on April 6, 2022 at Hospice Vaughan surrounded by his loving family after a fearless 4 year battle with Cancer.

Sherwin’s family would describe him to be a leader and a planner. Throughout his life, he was known to be wise, selfless, brave, strong and loyal. Putting aside conflicting emotions to draft logical advice, he always thought ahead and exceeded the expectations of everyone he met.

Born on September 19, 1962 in Hong Kong, Sherwin had the ultimate goal to create a legacy and become an inspiration to others. It was a long and difficult task but with his determination, charisma and love for learning he made it all possible. In 1976, he moved to Victoria BC, with only $80 USD. Driven to learn and succeed, Sherwin prioritized saving money for post-secondary education by working in a restaurant as a waiter, bartender and cook. He also earned money from his own businesses as an importer, window cleaner and modified car seller. By 1984, he saved enough money to move to Toronto to study Engineering. He graduated from electrical and computer technologies at Ryerson University then got his first job at CIBC in 1989, and never left. CIBC gave him opportunities in many technological and business areas, where he gained hands-on and leadership skills, but most importantly, life-long friends.

By 1993, he met the love of his life, Janice Lai and they got married in 1997. Together, they raised their three lovely kids Shenice Lui, Brian Lui and Chloe Lui and recently celebrated 25 years of marriage.

Now Sherwin rests and has been reunited with his parents Wing Ho Lui (father) and Wai Fong Lui (mother). He will be dearly missed by many, especially his siblings, Barbara Lui (sister), Betty Lui (sister), Karen Lui (sister), Ken Lui (brother), and Donny Lui (brother).

Dear Janice and family,

My deepest condolences for your tragic loss of Sherwin. May Sherwin rest in peace.

I had the pleasure and fortune to work with Sherwin almost 20 years ago in Retail & Small Business Lending (RSBL) at CIBC. Sherwin was always so kind and friendly to us all. Sherwin had such a generous heart. He would always reach out to us each holiday to wish us well and to let us know that we were in his thoughts. His holiday emails always brought a smile to my face. Even though we haven't worked together or seen each other in so many years, I always felt his kindness and thoughtfulness. He brought so much joy to others.

May you, your children, and your family have comfort in the wonderful and loving memories of Sherwin.

Take care,
Monika
