In memory of

Annie Mary Sherlock

December 4, 1923 -  December 19, 2020

(nee Cornett)

Passed away peacefully at the age of 97 at The Houses of Providence Long Term Care, where she was a resident for the past two years. Annie was born in Brandon Manitoba and moved to Toronto when she was 16 years old.  She met and married her beau John McNair Sherlock in 1940.  When John was in the army, Annie felt that she too should do her patriotic duty and became a Bomb Girl.  After the war was over they continued to call Toronto home and raised their three children, 2 daughters and a son here. Her husband John died in 1982. In addition to being a loving mother and a homemaker, Annie managed to have a long and successful career with the Canada Post Corporation.  She retired after 34 years as a popular supervisor, admired and recognized by her coworkers, for her thoughtful and kind nature. Survived by her daughters Patricia Sherlock, Suzanne Mandrozos (John), and son John Sherlock Jr., her loving presence will be missed. Affectionately known to her nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren as "Nanny", she will be lovingly remembered for the games she played and her many sports references as conversation starters. Nanny's spirit lives on in her granddaughters Lexy (Ben), Tracey (Peter), Diana (Steve); her grandsons Adam (Alexis), Kurtis (Rachel), Jonathan (Meg), Jason (Elise), Kyle (Anne Marie) and Kirk (Mary). Her great grandchildren Sophie, Gemma, Isla, Quinn, Andrew, Alex, Justin, Lily, Emma, Mathew and Alaina, will know of her love and warmth through the many pictures and stories that will be shared with them over the years to come. She will be mourned by family and friends who have shared her life. The family would like to thank the staff of Houses of Providence for the care and consideration shown to this special lady. A private family service will be held at Pine Hills Cemetery and Funeral Centre, where Annie will be laid to rest alongside her husband.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer Society or charity of your choice in memory of Annie.

Nanny was loved by many and will be missed by all. Always glamorous and kind, she had a smile that would warm any room. We will miss Chinese dinners on New Years Eve, Blue Jays updates and nice conversations on the couch. Love Kurtis, Rachel, Isla and Quinn
