Danniels, Shane. September 1, 1988-November 1, 2012

Shane passed away on November 1, 2012 at home after a short and courageous battle with brain cancer. After a brief stay at Sunnybrooke Health Sciences Centre Shane returned home and spent his final nine weeks with his family and close friends, mother (Susan Danniels), father (Ray Danniels (partner Alexandra Mohnachev), sister Sarah Danniels (partner Thomas Vormann), brothers Sam Danniels and Troy Danniels (partner Kristen Mills), loving partner Kim Lynch, uncle (Steven Carter), and lifelong friends Alex Paquin, Jake MacDougall, CJ Hutchinson, Josh Sved who were all at his side when he left us. Shane's short but passionate and tenacious life carried a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. During his days at The Sterling Hall School, Royal St. Georges College and his recent graduation from York University, where he majored in philosophy and graduated with honours, Summa Cum Laude, Shane was known for his kindness, fierce loyalty, and his passion for everything he undertook. He was an accomplished musician, athlete, academic, and most importantly son, partner, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend. Shane had a sharp mind, a relentless pursuit of knowledge, a magnanimous heart and a smile like a brilliant light. We will all hold him close forever and we will all miss him. The family would like to thank St. Elizabeth's Health Care Services, the Temmy Latner Palliative Care Centre, and caregivers Sham and Subula (Tina). Shane supported several charities and in lieu of flowers, donations to Doctors Without Borders, Oxfam International, and The Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. There will be a memorial service on Tuesday November 6, 2012 at 4pm at The Mount Pleasant Visitation Centre, 375 Mount Pleasant Road.
