In memory of

Sau Kam Choo 曹秀金

August 10, 1925 -  August 16, 2023

On August 16, 2023, Sau Kam Choo (nee Yeung, 楊秀金) of Toronto peacefully passed away at the age of 98 years.

Sau Kam will be lovingly remembered by her children: Lai Hung Sum, Howe Cheun Choo (Wai Chu Choo, nee Mak), Lisa Dieter (John Dieter), Maria Babe (Graham Babe) and Sharon Choo-Stuart (David Stuart); 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous relatives and friends.

Sau Kam is predeceased by her loving husband, Wing Quan Choo, daughter, Lai Har Chu (Wei Chung Chu) and great-grandson, Orion Har.

Sau Kam was born in Guangzhou, China; here, the first three of her children were born. After a brief period in Hong Kong, she emigrated to Port of Spain, Trinidad where she joined her husband and they lived there for about 10 years. There, she gave birth to the last three daughters. The family moved to Canada in 1970 and called Toronto home thereafter. She devoted her life to her family and spent many years caring for her children and grandchildren. Her Chinese vegetable garden in front of her home was well known in the Cabbagetown neighbourhood.

The family would like to thank the staff at Yee Hong Centre - Scarborough Finch and Scarborough Health Network - Birchmount Hospital for their care and compassion.

Rest in Peace grandma. You can now be together with grandpa. I will always cherish and remember our times together watching WWF wrestling, Chinese TVB, and Super Trio series.

Thank you for raising me, teaching me, and loving me. Thank you for buying me my first computer that cost you over $2000 (a lot of money back in 2000), accepting me into your home for university and letting me stay post-university.

You may not be with me here, but you will always be in my mind and forever in my heart.

Your grandson,
曹健成

Condolences and much love to all of you.
We hope to have a vegetable garden out front next year, and will plant it with your mom as inspiration.

Our condolences to the Choo family for the the loss of their matriarch. We were privileged to have known her in her active years. She had many talents from gardening to sewing and culinary skills to rival any expert chef. She always made us feel welcomed in her home with her generosity and warm stories about her family. Our thoughts are with her family as they take this next step to celebrate her life.
