Sam died at Michael Garron Hospital following a 3 year fight with Alzheimer’s and finally congestive heart failure.

Sam was 94 and married to his one true love, Margaret (Papizzo) for 67 years’ full of dedication and lots of laughs

We thank all the wonderful staff at MGH whose dedication to Sam & to the elderly is so appreciated.

Sam had great support from his amazing daughter Theresa MacNeil (Ed), son Paul, grandsons Ian (Vittoria) & Eric MacNeil, whom he helped raise and offered much advice. Sam lived to meet his beautiful great-grand daughter, Emilia Rose.

Throughout his illness, Sam called for his family – all deceased – mom & dad (Caterina & Giuseppi), brothers (Tony, Joe, Frank, Domenic & Louie) and sisters Jennie Crisologo, Louise Ditta & Angie Catania). He was also very fond of his mother-in-law, Anna Papizzo.

Sam was so proud to be the only sibling born in Canada, after the familia emigrated from Vita, Sicily in 1929.

Sam was a born salesman, beginning at Dom & Tony Catania’s fruit store in Mimico, Dad’s Cookies, Simon Cigars and buying & selling houses with his pal, Tony Ponzo

We have great memories to sustain our sadness.

• Going from grocery store to grocery store for the bargains

Visitation & Funeral are Monday November 10th at 11:00 AM to 1 PM, with a gathering & reception to follow at Pine Hills Cemetery & Funeral Centre, 625 Birchmount Rd. No flowers please. Donations to the Alzheimer’s Society or MGH would be appreciated.

A private burial will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place
