In memory of

Ruth Lillian Gordaneer

September 10, 1930 -  November 9, 2021

Ruth, also known as Mom, Nana or Nana Ruth, Auntie and Ruthie, passed away peacefully at Hillsdale Estates, on Monday, November 9, 2021 at the age of 91. Beloved daughter of Walter and Clara Layzell (both deceased). Loving mother of Beverley Hogan (Dave Bichener), Douglas, and Daniel (Lily Choo). Cherished grandmother of John (Jennifer), Joanna (Shawn), Gregory (Dana), Matthew (Amelie), Stefanie (Conor) and Michael (Shelby), and great-grandmother of Emma and Alicia. Predeceased by brothers Walter and David (Judy). Ruth will be dearly missed by brothers John (June, predeceased) and Ken (Margaret, predeceased), and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Ruth was a fiercely self-determined and independent woman. She always had a vision of what she wanted to accomplish and the courage and conviction to make it happen. Whether it was a divorce after 31 years of marriage or to return to school as a mature student to make a career change or buying "the farm" in her 50's where she built a barn, raised chickens and grazed cattle or becoming an entrepreneur by selling her home made pot pies and running her antique barn. She faced a number of health issues over the past few years....2 hip operations, fused neck/spine bones and fractured pelvis twice....yet she relearned to walk several times and always bounced back.

She was proud of all her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces and extended family across Canada and wanted the best for everyone. There are many happy memories especially the family holiday feasts at her farm.

Special thanks to the staff at Hillsdale Estates, especially on Lavender Lane, for their compassionate care. To honour Ruth's wishes, she will be cremated and no formal service will be held.

You will always have my love as well as the many fond memories and great times we have had together over the years -- I still have some of your antiques which will also remind of you every time I look at them -- Love forever Ruth

So many memories I have no idea where to start. The card games, the road trips, so much laughter with you and Dad. I hated living so far away from you. You were and always will be in my thoughts and my heart. Love you so much Aunt Ruth. You taught me to fight for what I wanted and that determination gets you everywhere. Give everyone a hug for me. Especially Dad and David.
