In memory of

Russell David Coleman

September 19, 1947 -  November 4, 2025

It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Russell David Coleman, beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather. On November 4, Russell passed away peacefully, at home , surrounded by family.

He was the devoted husband of Kathy Coleman (née Stapley), and the proud father of Megan (Greg), Luke (Eva), Dan, Matt (Haley), and Adam (Vanessa). Russell was a cherished brother to Ellen Etele and Gary Coleman, and a loving grandfather to Sahara, Victoria, Jackson, Wyatt, Cillian, Nolan, and Calum, all who brought him endless joy.

A lifelong educator, Russell taught for many years in the TCDSB at Senator O’Connor College School before serving as an administrator at Mary Ward CSS, Bishop Marrocco/Thomas Merton CSS, and St. John Henry Newman CSS. He retired in 2009, then pursued his interest in renovating and building.

He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his quick wit, his deep commitment to his family and friends, and his dedication to education.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the many friends, health care professionals and caregivers who assisted Russell and offered the family such kind support.

Visitation will be held at Pine Hills Cemetery and Funeral Centre (625 Birchmount Rd) on Sunday November 16th from 11:00-1:00 and 3:00-5:00. A funeral mass will be held at St John's Church (786 Kingston Rd) on Monday November 17th, 2025 at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Russell’s name to: L’Arche Toronto, Pegasus Community Project, or the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care.

I will always remember Mr Coleman for his kindness and understanding when I was a student at St John Henry Newman. He exercised a tremendous mount of patience when dealing with my sisters and I. We are forever grateful for having him as our Principal.
Sincerely,

Dearest Luke, Eva, Sahara, Victoria and Jackson,
We can see the greatness of your dear father and grandfather in all of you. His legacy is his family, and although we didn’t know him well, we can see what he passed on to all of you - warmth, kindness, honesty, integrity and smarts. May that bring you some comfort now. Our most sincere condolences to you and your entire family. May he rest in peace.

With love, your friends,
