In memory of

Rudolph Albert Matthews

January 6, 1937 -  August 10, 2016

Rudolph Albert Matthews of 12 Milford Haven Drive, Scarborough passed away in his home on August 10, 2016.

Rudolph was born in Grove Village, Guyana, on January 6, 1937, the only child of the late Caroline Una Matthews. After completing his primary education, he began his working career in Guyana as a land surveyor for the Department of Surveys and Hydraulics Division from 1957 until 1966, when he left for the Bahamas to work for the Marine Construction and Engineering Ltd. He terminated his employment with this company in 1971 and moved to Canada, residing in Toronto. He became a landed immigrant in Canada in 1974, and a Canadian Citizen in 1979.

Rudolph’s longest career in Canada was with the Canada Post Corporation, where he worked in maintenance for 26 years, from 1974 until his retirement in 2001.
His biggest hobby was fixing vehicles, and he spent most of his free time restoring and repairing used vehicles, as well as helping his friends maintain their own cars.

Rudolph was a pleasant man with a big heart. He had many friends, and they were always comfortable in his presence. He was very supportive of his friends, and to say that he was a fair individual would be an understatement of the many fine qualities that he possessed.
Rudolph lived alone after his mom passed away. He welcomed everyone into his home, and there was always someone visiting or staying with him.

Rudolph is survived by his adopted sister Voulda Millington who lives in Guyana, and by his half sisters and brothers, Idorene Eversley, Dianne Agard, Karen Martinboro, Bobby, Winston and Arthur Dawson, and his many relatives. He was very close to his cousin Lloyd who was always there for him most of the time when he needed assistance.

His relatives wish to extend their gratitude to the Home Care Nurses for the support he received in his final days.
Rudolph will be dearly missed by all those who knew him.
May he rest in peace.
