Ruby passed away peacefully at the age of 97 on August 2, 2023, at Amica Whitby surrounded by many of her family.

She will now join her beloved Eddie who predeceased her in June of 2000. Ruby was born on February 12, 1926, to Horace and Dora Cooper in Barnsley, England. She had one sibling, Irene (Richard) more commonly referred to as Rene (Dick).

Ruby was proud of the time she spent as a WRNS during the Second World War and often referred to her role as a Postmistress in both England and Canada.
She met her future husband, Edward, in Barnsley following the end of the war. Ruby and Eddie could often be found dancing at the Barnsley Dance Halls.
Ruby gave birth to two girls in England, Angela and Paula (Jim).
In May of 1957 the young family immigrated to Canada where two boys joined the family, Jan and Raymond (Lynda). While continuing to work as a Postmistress her major focus was raising her 4 children. She enjoyed hosting parties for friends and took great pride in maintaining her home. In her later years, Ruby could be found enjoying time at a slot machine in local casinos.
Amazingly healthy until the end Ruby will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved her.

Ruby will be missed by many including her children, Angela, Paula (Jim), Jan, Ray (Lynda) and grandchildren, Joanna (Ana), Lee, Taylor (Siwei), Matthew ( Melissa), Becka (Zander), Kalle (Ryan). Her great-grandchildren, Harper, Scarlett and James. Her nephew Kim (Yvonne) and grandnephews Ryan (Sandra) and Ricky.

Ruby is at peace joining Eddie, Rene and Dick. Goodnight to our English Rose.
