RONALD EARLE WRIGHT

August 14th, 1931 – April 10th, 2017

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Ronald, after a courageous and lengthy battle with cancer. Predeceased by his son Robin and his wife Sylvia, loving father to Jeff, Ron and Anita, Jerry and Susan, cherished Grandfather to Jennifer, Chris, Hayley, Maddie and Ryan. Ron will be fondly remembered for his devotion and love of family.

He was a consummate leader and organizer in the community in a variety of endeavours. As a teacher and administrator with the TDSB, he was dedicated to the welfare of his students academically, physically and socially. He was a respected coach and participant in numerous sports. He was always advocating to us to strive to do our best. We will fondly remember his days with the “Turtles”, the “Old Boys”, the “Fishing Club”, and his desire to improve his golf game.

Ron was one of the founding members and a keen participant of the Toronto Choristers, which is comprised of retired TDSB teachers and staff. He was recently added to the list of Life Time Members for his contributions to the Balmy Beach Canoe Club.

Visitation will be held at Pine Hills Funeral Centre on Monday, April 17th, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at St. John’s Norway Church, Kingston Road and Woodbine, on Tuesday, April 18th, at 1:00 p.m. A celebration of his life will follow at the Balmy Beach Club (foot of Beach Avenue), immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Prostate Cancer Canada or Colon Cancer Canada.
