Roger Eric MacCallum was born in Charlottetown, PEI on April 7th, 1943 and he passed away at the age of 81 on September 22, 2024 at Scarborough General Hospital. Roger married Jean Wedemire in 1981 and they remained married until his death. Roger was the proud father of Melanie, Lisa, and Phillip and grandfather to Jesse, Logan, and Elle. He was the eldest brother to Grant (Debbie), Jimmy (Christine), Allen (Linda), Shirley, and Blair, and uncle to many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his daughter Melanie, his brother Blair, and his parents Eric and Dot.

Roger was a crane operator and a proud member of Local 793, International Union of Operating Engineers for almost 50 years. He was also an entrepreneur; Roger opened and operated Mac’s Lobsters and several Coffee Times, among many other business ventures.

Roger was a fixture in his Scarborough neighbourhood for decades and will be missed by many neighbours and friends.

There will be a visitation and brief service at the Pine Hills Cemetery in Scarborough, Ontario on Sunday September 29, 2024 from 10am-12pm with a reception to follow at his Scarborough home. He will be laid to rest with his parents at the Central United Church Cemetery with a celebration of life to be held in PEI at a later date.

Roger dearly loved his dog Angel and cats Coco, Snowy, Smokey and Shadow, although he would rarely admit it. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your local SPCA if you are able to do so.
