Rogelio Franco Gatbonton

June 26, 1937 -  November 7, 2020

It is with great sadness that the family of Rogelio (Roger) Franco Gatbonton announces his peaceful passing on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at the age of 83 years.

Roger was born in Manila, Philippines and immigrated to Canada in 1968 and worked as a mechanic for 14.5 years with the Toronto Transit Commission and 9.5 years at Greyhound Canada where he retired at 65.

Roger will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 46 years, Julieta O. Gatbonton and his children Michael (Michelle) and Mary Ann (Glenn). He will be fondly remembered by his five grandchildren Jared, A.J, Daniel, Dylan, and Justin. He will be forever remembered by his siblings Danilo (Cora) Lamila, Elenita Araneta, Elvira (Edgar) Bauza, Ramon (Cindy) Franco, Elsa Franco and sister-in-law Magdelena Lamila. Roger was predeceased by his loving mom, Veronica Franco and dear brother Conrado Lamila. He also leaves behind many nephews, nieces, extended family and dear friends.

Due to COVID restrictions at this time, funeral service in memory of Roger is by invitation only as we are limited to a maximum of 30 people for each viewing time. Funeral service will be Tuesday, November 10, 2020 6:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday, November 11, 2020 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00PM at Pine Hills Funeral Centre.

The funeral mass will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at 10:00 AM at St. Rose of Lima Parish (3216 Lawrence Ave E., Scarborough, M1H 1A4) followed by a burial at Pine Hills Cemetary (Lot 13). We will be following all church protocols and we are limited to outdoor gatherings of 30 people due to COVID, and request for you to remain in your cars for as long as possible.

If you would like to pay your respect to Roger during the burial, please practice social distancing with those outside of your household and wear a mask/face covering at all times.

A Celebration of Rogerโ€™s life will be held once this pandemic is over. In the meantime, please share fond memories of Roger and let's keep his memory alive!
