In memory of

Robert Townsend

October 7, 1943 -  May 9, 2018

Robert James Townsend, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2018 at Brampton Civic Hospital, at the age of 74. He was predeceased by his mother Mildred and father John. Bob is survived by his wife Helen, brother John, sister Mary Lou, daughter Tammy, step- kids Val and Gary, and grandkids Kyle and Lauren.

Bob was born in Belleville on October 7, 1943. After finishing school in Belleville, Bob moved to Brampton with Northern Electric. Bob then spent 30 years as a Mississauga Fire Fighter before retiring in 2000.

Bob was many things: a proud Fire Fighter, athletic outdoorsman, curler, scuba diver, hockey player, global traveler, country music lover, and, above all, Bob was a kind man who would drop everything he was doing to help a friend.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Canadian Wildlife Federation.

I worked with Bob on a couple of shifts during my career. Always found him to be pleasant and nice to talk to. I am sure he shall be missed by all who knew him. May he rest in glorious peace.

Father figure, friend, and wonderful father to my sister, Tammy. You brought stability into our lives and gave us wonderful memories. Our summer vacations at the cottage will always be in my conversations. You will be missed but definitely not forgotten.

Bob welcomed me into the family instantly. His stories were always of memories of his family life, his career and often ended with a laugh. His grandchildren told me many stories of how Granda Bob came on school trips, skating and would go to their school to speak with the class about fire fighting. I know how happy and proud he made them. This was very evident.
You will be missed Bob.
