Robert (Roy) Fairbairn Mercer, 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 20th, 2019 at Peel Manor Long Term Care in Brampton. Beloved husband, companion and friend for 49 years to Peggy Mercer (Predeceased in 2002). Loving father of Malcolm and his wife Shirley. Proud Papa to his grandchildren Elizabeth, Melissa, Lindsay and her husband Jason.
Born March 27th, 1926 in Cheshire, England. In his early years Roy served in the British Army and fought in the Second World War as part of the Royal Signals. Married to Peggy Rimmer July 27th, 1953. They migrated to Toronto, Ontario in 1957 where they raised their one son, Malcolm.
Cremation has already taken place. Roy will be fondly remembered by friends and family at a celebration of life in the early spring at the Meadowvale Cemetery and Crematorium in Mississauga. Further information will be provided at a later date. Memorial donations to the Alzheimers Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.
The family wish to extend their appreciation and gratitude to the doctors and staff at the Peel Manor Long Term Care Facility in Brampton.
