In memory of

Robert Clinton "Clint" MacDonald

May 16, 1972 -  November 15, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Clint MacDonald, who died unexpectedly of a heart attack at 3:29 a.m. on November 15, 2025, at the age of 53.

Clint was a devoted father to his three children, Krystal-Ann Melbourne, Ethan Alexander MacDonald, and Robert Jonah MacDonald, and a cherished brother to Richard MacDonald and Chris MacDonald.

He is survived by his parents, Robert MacDonald and Jean MacDonald, by his children, his siblings, and his extended family, all of whom will continue to carry his memory in their hearts.

He is also survived by his former partner, Angela Jane Baldwin, with whom he shared 2 kids. Even after separation, she remained a part of his life for their children.

Clint built a meaningful career as a professor at Durham College and Seneca College, where he found great joy in teaching Database Design and Computer Programming. Prior to his academic work, he spent many years as a contractor throughout the Durham Region, offering his skills in building and landscaping.

Beyond his professional life, Clint loved spending time with friends, especially through games, Dungeons & Dragons sessions, and the occasional game of squash. Above all, he loved his family deeply; no matter the distance, he always made time to be present for his children.

He also went out of his way to volunteer as a coach for Eclipse Track and Field. He spent his time there helping people of all ages develop their skills in Long Jump and High Jump. He would talk quite a lot about the kids he coached, and their success was always something that brought him joy.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Thornton Cemetery and Funeral Centre, 1200 Thornton Road North, Oshawa (905-579-6787). Guests may gather from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Clint’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Clint will be remembered always for his love of family, his warm and outgoing spirit, and his unwavering work ethic.

I’m happy I had the few times I got to meet him. Every time I talked with him he was so happy to teach and explain, share his interests, and talked so highly of his children. I hope rest finds him well, he will be missed.

I have known Clint since our high school days, and together we shared one of life’s greatest blessings—our daughter. In our younger years, our lives were deeply connected, and even as life led us down different paths, we always remained united as parents. I will always cherish the memories from those early days, and I will always remember him as the same man he was then: kind, generous, and steadfast in what he believed in. He was the type of man who would step in and help anyone in need.

To his parents and brothers, my heartfelt condolences. Losing a child and a sibling is a pain no family should ever have to face.

To his sons, you are far too young to be experiencing this loss. Knowing your father as I did, I know he would want you to hold tight to your dreams and keep moving forward.

And to our daughter—everything good in him lives on in you, as it always has.

Clint was taken far too soon. May he live on in the hearts of his children and in the memories of everyone who loved him.

With love and deepest condolences,
Julie Ann

When I think about my high school days, in almost every memory, there is Clint. We had so much fun. Just a pure genuine friendship. I have never been able to go to Canadas Wonderland since and not think about the time when 4 of us went together. Sooooo many laughs!

After Krystal was born, he rented a room in my parents house. There we got to spend more time together. Playing crib and blackball. I swear he cheated! Nobody wins ALL the time! Haha!

My heart is broken with the news of your untimely passing. Rest easy my friend. The memories live on.

Coach Clint was a beloved member of our Eclipse Track & Field Club family and one of our dedicated Jumps coaches. Clint was an exceptional man—someone who poured his heart, his time, and his incredible experience into helping our athletes pursue excellence. He cared deeply for every young person he coached, always wanting nothing but the very best for them.

Clint’s devotion to our club helped propel many athletes to new heights, both on and off the field. He was not only a coach, but a mentor, a steady presence, and a true friend. His impact reached far beyond training sessions; he inspired confidence, passion, and belief in those he guided.

He spoke often and with such pride about his family—especially his sons. Being a father meant everything to him, and his love for them was woven into everything he did. That pride, that devotion, was part of what made him the remarkable person he was.

I am deeply shocked and saddened by this loss. Clint’s kindness, dedication, and the genuine connections he made with people will continue to live on in the athletes he coached and in all of us who were fortunate enough to know him.

May his memory never be forgotten, and may we honour him by continuing the work he believed in so strongly—lifting others up and helping them reach their greatest potential.

Rest in peace, Coach Clint. You will be missed more than words can say.
