Robert “Bob” Lee Borg was born on December 16, 1942, in Malta, the son of Mary and Anthony Borg and brother to Joe, Alice, and Lydia. Bob immigrated to Canada with his family at a young age and grew up in Windsor, Ontario. He pursued a career as a visual artist and eventually moved to Toronto, Ontario, where he established his own animation firm, Grafilm. In Toronto, he met his wife, Madeline. They were married in 1982 in Paramaribo, Suriname, where Madeline was born. Bob was a father to two children: Simon, his son from his first marriage, who sadly passed away in 1990, and Gabriella, his daughter that he shared with Madeline. He was also a father-in-law to Gabriella’s husband, Mehmet, and a nannu (grandfather) to his granddaughter Cleo, who was born this year.
Bob was not only a gifted visual artist but also a chef and master barbecuer, a talented gardener and landscaper, and a deep lover of music, particularly jazz and soul. He was the life of every party and a true conversationalist. He had an incredible sense of humor and embraced living life to the fullest. His larger-than-life spirit and unconditional love will live on vibrantly in the memories of his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages those who would like to commemorate Bob to do so with a donation to North York General Hospital or to the Alzheimer's Society's Music Project campaign.
