In memory of
Robert Anthony Casella
November 7, 1961 -
July 16, 2018
Arrangements entrusted to the Elgin Mills Funeral Centre
It is with extreme sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother (in-law), (great) uncle and friend,
Robert "Bobby" Anthony Casella. Bobby passed away at approximately 3:30 p.m. while in Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto. There is some comfort in knowing that he was surrounded by his family at the moment he took his last breath. Throughout the day, his Dad "Pops", sisters, brother (in-law), (great) nieces and (great) nephews each took the opportunity to spend time with him, providing hugs and kisses and letting him know how much they loved him!
Bobby was born on November 7, 1961, to Dorothy Casella (nee Hudson, deceased April 2008) and Joseph G. Casella, in Toronto Western Hospital. Growing up in Rexdale, as the fourth of seven children, Bobby tried to enjoy all that life offered him. He played baseball and hockey in his younger days and continued to coach and play baseball well into his forties. As described by his nieces and nephews, Bobby was a kind, supportive and loving uncle. He enjoyed spending time with each of them and attended many sporting events as their biggest fan and armchair coach, providing instruction during and after games.
Bobby kept busy and remained "on the move" his entire life! He continued to learn and grow and never stopped trying to understand who he was in order to become a better a person.
Bobby is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Dorothy and is survived by his beloved father, Joseph; his siblings, Lisa, Billy (Banda, Gizmo), Lori, Sandy, Diana, Jolene (Philip); his nieces and nephews, Candace, Benjamin, Chantal (Terry) (Lori), Artigas, Mateo, Sierra (Sandy), Joshua (Diana), Ethan & Isaac (Jolene & Philip); and his great-nieces and nephews Durron (Candace), Tiara, Jaidyn, Preston (Benjamin), Jahmai, Caralynn, Tommy (Chantal).
We are eternally thankful to Elroy for the support and friendship he provided to Bobby and our family throughout his life and especially this latest journey. We are also extremely grateful to Shannon Farley, Nurse Practitioner at Brampton Civic Hospital and the entire team of nurses and doctors at Sunnybrook Hospital, all of whom showed true caring and compassion to Bobby and our entire family. From the emergency room, the fracture clinic, to the Odette Cancer Centre, to the staff on D6 & C2 and the many volunteers "Thank you," for the dignity and respect shown to Bobby and our entire family!
In Memory of Bobby, donations may be made to the Sunnybrook Hospital Foundation, CAMH, local Animal Shelters of your choosing or the DeMar DeRozan All Star Book Program (thru Indigo).
