In memory of

Rita Mok

October 19, 1974 -  October 25, 2023

Rita Mok, a cherished wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend passed away after a long, courageous battle with cancer in the comfort of her home, surrounded by loved ones, on October 25, 2023, at the age of 49.

Rita truly had a heart of gold, always prioritizing others above herself and finding more joy in giving than receiving. Her infectious smile and warmth had the power to light up any room. A dedicated teacher by profession, Rita gradually shifted her focus to raising her daughter and nurturing her family in later years.

A woman of many talents, Rita was originally an artist. Though she would jokingly say she played the piano "against her will," she was the musical talent of her family. An avid reader, Rita's passions also extended to live music and tracks from the 80s and 90s, the joy of travel, the exploration of diverse cuisines, and most importantly, the company of family. Taking up running as a personal challenge, she triumphantly completed a half marathon in 2011. Throughout her life, she maintained a close-knit circle of friends, cherishing the deep bonds she forged.

Rita's love for family gatherings was evident in her penchant for hosting meals. With her characteristic generosity, she would always way over-provision, ensuring there was more than enough to go around. And no matter the culinary skills on display, she had the gift of making every cook feel as if they'd prepared the best meal she'd ever tasted. For Rita, it was never about her; it was always about making others feel special.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Kevin; their loving daughter, Talia; her caring mother, Fanny; and supportive siblings, Stella and Eric.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to "Rethink Breast Cancer," linked below.

Rita was, and always will be, a beacon of love and kindness. She will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always held close in our hearts.

I’m a mutual friend of Joan & Gary Quon & Rita. In February 2022 my sister was diagnosed with breast cancer. Rita called me and helped me navigate the complexity of medical care, the how to’s and support for her. She was also so wise and generous of her experience and time. Her help was so invaluable to me and my family, we are forever grateful.

Kevin and Talia, my husband Kevin and I extend our deepest condolences and hope in time the love and memories of your mom and wife will fill your hearts with joy and never ending love.
