In memory of

Rita Hopkinson

November 2, 1945 -  June 7, 2025

Rita Hopkinson passed away peacefully on June 7th, 2025 at Scarborough General Hospital with loved ones by her side. She treasured her large family, predeceased by her sisters, Lorraine (Renee), Alice, Barbara, Margaret and Ruth. She will be missed by her sisters Donna, Joan and Brenda, her brothers Bob, Bill and Jim. Nieces and nephews, too many to count and her many close friends. Her cats Buttons and Jackson were lucky to be dearly loved, and she was just as lucky to have them by her side. She shared many laughs with her friends who she played cards with. She met weekly with her friends to share meals, where they were able to enjoy each other's presence.

Although she has passed, she will be fondly remembered by her kindness and generosity with her time. Her laughter and the love that she brought into the lives around her will remain with us forever. Rita will be missed, but held in our hearts.

Rita - you will be missed. May you rest in peace. You were a dear friend to me and all of my family, from our weekly lunches together to the wonderful gatherings back at your place where we all enjoyed good conversation and just relaxing on your deck. Good bye for now. Forever in our hearts.

I had the pure joy and pleasure of going out with Rita and my family very often on the weekends for lunch. Rita would often extend a sweet and warm welcome back to her home for a pie party and backyard visit with her. I have many memories of her warm and happy smile. I will miss that sweet smile very much and I know my family members feel the same way. My deepest condolences to her family and loved ones.

Rita was a wonderful kind lady and a great friend. We are so happy we knew her for the time we had. We enjoyed so much having pie parties at her home, going out for meals together, playing cards at the legion. She will always be sorely missed by us.

I was truly fortunate to have met Rita. I met her at Saint Maria Goretti church where she ran bid euchre. She welcomed me and many others into her home to play bid euchre for many years. She was kind, funny and generous. She was a fantastic card player. Rest in peace, Rita. You will be missed.
