In loving memory of Riaz Mitra Nandan

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Riaz, also known as Ri, to his close friends and family.
A beloved son, brother, grandson, and best friend who departed this world far too soon at the young age of 27, after a 16 month courageous battle with cancer.

Ri lived a life full of strength, kindness, and integrity. Those who knew him remember his sharp intellect, generous heart, and unwavering commitment to the people he loved. Whether through thoughtful conversations, acts of kindness, or simply his steady presence, Riaz always had a way of making others feel seen, heard, and valued.

He was deeply devoted to his family, always putting others before himself, and approached life with humility and grace. His warmth, wit, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Riaz leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will live on in the hearts of those who mourn him. He is survived by his parents, Vin and Annie, and younger brothers, Jacob, Caleb, and Aiden, who will continue to honour his memory in their daily lives.

A celebration of life takes place on Thursday September 4th.
A service will be held to honour Riaz's life and he will be laid to rest on Friday on September 5th.

In honouring Riaz, we remember not only the sorrow of his loss, but the beauty of his presence - a life that touched many and a soul that now rests in eternal paradise.

I only knew Riaz from social media and met him in passing at a physiotherapy conference last year. I was friends with his brother, Jacob. Despite not knowing him that well, I could tell he was such an intelligent, confident and friendly guy with his friendly demeanour and smile. His passing makes my heart ache. Cancer does not discriminate, and it is such a cruel disease. I pray for Riaz’s family, and wish him eternal peace. I hope his loved ones may one day reunite with him in heaven where he waits. Rest blissfully brother Riaz, you were taken from this world too soon but I remain hopeful knowing you no longer have to suffer any pain.
