In memory of

Rev. John Alexander Carnegie

Dec. 14, 1930-November 4, 2023

With sadness we announce the passing of John on Saturday November 4th. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 68 years Letitia, and his two children, Morag (Doug) and Iain, and his four grandchildren.
John left his home in Paisley, Scotland in 1956 taking his new wife and embarking on an adventure to Canada that would last a lifetime. After arriving in Canada John served as church pastor in Hull, Quebec and then Claremont Ontario. Eventually moving to the States, John & Letitia continued to serve in Baptist Churches and added two children to their little family. They returned to Ontario, Canada in 1974 and raised their family in their permanent home in Toronto.
With an insatiable curiosity and quirky sense of humour, John was an avid reader, and shared his love of literature and nature with his children. They often went on many long walks with a loyal dog by their side. An avid music lover and composer he spent his spare time composing music that was often used in the churches he served and beyond.
After returning to Canada, John continued his role as Pastor in multiple Toronto churches and taught at Central Baptist Seminary.
In his later years, John struggled through the many challenges of Alzheimer’s, yet his Faith was bright to the end. He will be deeply missed by his family and his friends.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Malton Village Long Term Care and Dr. Lakovic for their kindness, love and support. In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
