In memory of

Reimar (Fred) Holland-Letz

August 19, 1934 -  October 11, 2021

Passed away peacefully at Tomkins Hospice House in Penetanguishene on Monday, October 11, 2021 at the age of 87.

Predeceased by his wife (Gwen), he leaves behind his devoted partner, Judita Grebenar, his children - Leanne (Chuck), Karin (Ken), David (Shelby). Loving Grandfather to his 4 grandsons, Bradley (Kaleigh), Riley, Aidan and Cole.

He was "one of a kind", quick with a joke, fiercely independent, innovative, always thinking outside the box and strong minded. It was this strength that pulled him out of many situations in life as well as health scares that most people would not walk away from. Quitting was never an option, but in the end, his body finally gave in.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Meadowvale Funeral Centre, 7732 Mavis Road, Brampton. Due to COVID restrictions, only invited guests will be attending. A link to the live stream of the service will be available at the top of this memorial page at 1:00 pm on Friday, October 29, 2021.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated to the Tomkins Hospice House in Penetanguishene, who took such amazing care of him in his final days.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I loved your dad. He made me laugh and often told me I was a pain in the ass! Lol! I have great memories of him. We, Annabel and I were terrified of him when we were younger and Annabel may argue she remained so. He was truly a gentle man and very generous. My sister Cheryl always remembers that he had endless chocolate bars in his coat! He was the best. I will miss him!

How sad I was to receive the news of Fred's passing! I shall forever miss our phone chats in recent years, when Fred's humour always left me laughing and in high spirits. He never ceased to call me "young lady" as the years went by and always had fresh jokes and encouraging words for me. I shall also miss the scent of his pipe that was his "trademark" at every visit to his home. My siblings, Stefan, Kerstin and Eva, join me in expressing our condolences. One of many special memories of Fred and Gwen from our childhood is a Christmas visit, when there was a splendid present for each of us under their tree! How very generous and caring, as always! Eternal thanks, Fred!

Our family met Fred several decades ago when my Brother Charles "Chuck" began a beautiful relationship with Fred's Daughter Leanne. Unfortunately, we never had the opportunity to meet Gwen as she passed before this time. However, we did have the most pleasurable opportunity to get to know Judita, who, along with Leanne, never failed to be there for Fred in his most desperate times of need and with him right to the end. Also, in return, Fred would not fail anyone who was in need. Fred's heart was full of generosity and decency to always do the right thing no matter what the circumstances were. He had a strong personality which would challenge you and a strong warm Hug that would comfort you!
Even though we are shedding tears we feel honoured to have met you and been able to share part of a lifetime with you!
Rest Easy Now Fred. We will never forget you! Love Pauline and Rich.
