Moved on to Kanata & St. Catharines. Settled in Mississauga. Ravi passed away peacefully, surrounded by family. He leaves behind his Devoted Wife Prabha, Cherished Children Geeta, Mala (Gary) & Asha. Adored Grandsons Chetan & Devan. Dear Brother to the late Anil (late Indra), Kiran (Vijay), the late Rakesh & Sheeta (Neetan). He was an Honoured In-law to the Sofat family, a Respected Uncle, Cousin, Nephew & Friend to many. Ravi was a proud Rotarian and a humble Employee & Director of Revenue Canada (CRA).
Ravinder Kumar Khosla, Ravi, was born on the 21st of January, 1941, in Nairobi, Kenya, to Ram Pratap & Savitri Khosla. Their first born child. A gift, the first grandchild for Shiv Lal & Bhaghwanti Khosla, so he was raised in his Bauji’s & Bhabhiji’s home in Kisumu.
After excelling in primary and secondary school, Ravi went to London, England to become a Chartered Accountant. He excelled again in his studies while enjoying the excitement of early 1960s London.
Following his return to Nairobi, Ravi found a position with the City Council.
On June 11, 1966, he married Prabha Sofat, his devoted wife of over 57 years.
Along came two daughters, Geeta & Mala.
Then came immigration to Canada in 1971, settling in Burlington with an entry level position with Revenue Canada.
Soon, another daughter, Asha was born.
After many road trips, promotions and re-locations, Ravi settled in Mississauga as a CRA Director, unknowingly breaking the glass ceiling for many South Asian Canadians to follow.
One of his greatest passions was service through the Rotary Club. His membership started in Nairobi and led to becoming President of Mississauga’s Meadowvale Club.
His family continued to grow in the 2000s with son in-law Gary and precious grandchildren Chetan & Devan.
Ravi will be remembered not only for his parties, golf games and love of cards, but also for helping many relatives and friends settle and thrive in Canada.
His own thriving started to diminish as he was approaching retirement. Dementia set in and slowly grew and grew. After 12 years at home, the disease led him to Post Inn Village in Oakville. After 8 years there, his brain, once lauded for its logic and intelligence, could no longer function.
Ravi passed away the 26th of February, 2024.
May his soul reincarnate in peace.
Om Shanti
