Ramachandra "Ram" Achar

Dr. Ramachandra Achar died peacefully at home in Toronto on June 6, 2018 at the age of 85 years.

He worked as an orthopaedic surgeon in Cornwall, Ontario for 25 years. In 1998 he retired from surgery and began working as a consultant with the Workplace Safety Insurance Board in Ottawa. He transferred to Toronto in 2005 to be with his youngest daughter and grandchildren. He finally retired in 2008.

Ram was a joyful person, had a wonderful sense of humour and loved spending time with his family and friends. He will be missed by his beloved wife and best friend Malathi, his children Naveen (Roshni) of Clifton Park, New York, Madhu (Jonathan) of West Windsor, New Jersey and Rajani (Glen) of Toronto, Ontario. His grandchildren Sanjay, Aneesha, Vijay, Norah and Kieran will remember their grandfather fondly.

Funeral services will be held at Elgin Mills Funeral Centre, 1591 Elgin Mills Road East, Richmond Hill, Ontario on Saturday, June 9th from 9:30AM to 12:30PM. As expressions of sympathy, Memorial Donations to the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care, the Parkinson Society of Canada or the Cornwall Community Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
