In memory of

Rajendra Singh

March 30, 1963 -  March 25, 2023

It is with absolute profound sadness that the family of Rajendra Singh announces his untimely passing on Saturday, March 25, 2023.

Raj’s extraordinary kindness, generosity and compassion touched the lives of many, he was an exceptional person in every way, and to say he will be missed is an understatement.

In 1983, Raj met the love of his life, Jennifer, and they were married on February 4th, 1984. Raj was a devoted father who always was there to offer support, guidance, and encouragement to his children as they pursued their own passions and dreams.

In his free time, Raj enjoyed being around his grandchildren , listening to music, road tripping, and watching horse racing. He loved spending time chatting with his many friends and acquaintances and enjoying nights out at the pub.

A devoted husband to Jennifer, an incredible and loving father to Sasha (Jamie), Stephanie (Joshua), and Sonya (Mitchell) and a doting grandfather to Aria, Mila, Azai, and Zayn. A loving son to the late Gaitrie and Hardat Singh and a beloved son-in-law to Idalina and Anthony Fernandes. He was a loving brother to Buddy (Donna), Pauline (Romeo), Nalini (Clive), and Prea (Kamran)—a brother-in-law to Patricia-late (Leslie), Lynette (George), Keith and Carl. Always an amazing godfather to Dana. A special uncle to Devin (Sabrena), Simran, Donovan, Bijan (Christina), Parisa (Zack), Roya, Cassandra (Ryan), Rishi, Leela, Leah (late), Sarah, Melissa and Christian.

Raj will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. He will be remembered for his warmth, his generosity, and his unwavering love for his family

Gone too soon, may the eternal light shine upon him.

And all the world will love you just as long, as long as you are,

Raj was married to my sister, Jennifer, but he was truly my blood brother. I met him when I was 13 and he was 19. He introduced me to music like Led Zeppelin, Rush and Bob Marley. We would talk for hours. He would always call me and ask me “What’s your plans? Why don’t you come over and we’ll go out?” I remember going to Woodbine Race Track many times. He taught me how to bet. I remember spending New Years together at Keg Mansion or Court House or Crocodile Rock. In 1990, we visited Montego Bay, my first trip. What a memory! Who k we that 24 years later Sasha would be married there!
I remember concerts at Ontario Place and the Ex, and live bands at every bar in TO. We shared a love of old movies on TCM. We argued about sports and religion. We attended many Buffalo Bills games in Orchard Park, his favourite. So many bbqs and drinks and patios together. We shared a love of cars. He taught me about finance. He would always pay my way everywhere, he insisted. When he drank he got louder but happier. His wonderful infectious laugh. He loved cricket and taught me the game. But mostly he showed me how to be a husband, father, man. He was a great model! I love him dearly and will miss him always! 💕

Raj was the kindest , gentlest , soft spoken person we knew as distant family that grew along with our two siblings . Our meetings were brief and cordial but yet Raj would leave a lingering memory of love and compassion and a personality that stood out from his low profile that is unforgettable .
We share your sorrow Jennifer , along with Sasha , Stephanie , Sonya , Lynette , rest of the family .Ida & Tony especially , who have yet another Sorrowful Station on the Way of the Cross .
With heartfelt condolences

It was January 1980 my first day at my new high school after migrating to Canada with my parents. I was standing there alone missing my friends back home when this long haired teenage kid walked up to me and introduced himself as Raj then introduced me to his friends. I will forever remember him as my first friend in Canada, his kindness and generosity. God bless your soul Raj.

For as long as I can remember, you were the funniest person I knew. The amount of laughter we've shared, the amount of times you made my stomach hurt because of the crazy things you would say, are too many to count. We were a comedy team, we were golf partners, we were dance partners.

You were my greatest musical influence. You introduced me to Jagjit Singh, Ghulam Ali, Ravi Shankar, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, The Rolling Stones, Steppenwolf. From Classical Indian music, to 60's and 70's Rock N Roll, and everything in between. We loved music, we loved discussing the many great artists that we'd both come to adore.

For the year that I worked with you, you made it a great experience. I traveled with you and Aunty Jen to and from work, and of course there was always laughter and joy. We frequently had lunch together, and would sometimes get ourselves into trouble after work at the old horse and Pony show.

For years we were one another's golfing buddy. Early weekend mornings, long drives, spending hours on the golf course. Never a dull moment, never any lack of conversation, rarely a moment of silence. I absolutely loved and cherished those days.

"Dev, I'm under serious time constraints." That was your way of telling me not to be late when you'd be coming to pick me up. I've always been on time for everything, so I don't know why you felt the need to say this to me. You were under "serious time constraints," yet we'd be able to spend three hours on the golf course, and then polish it off with another two hours at Tropical Nights.

No one could host a party like you. You were the host and the entertainment. You were the opening act, the middle, and the closer. Your dance moves were legendary. Who could forget the "fish bowl."

Uncle Sham aka Uncle Raj aka Rajendra Radha Krishna Singh aka Sham Sundar Singh. I think you had many names, because you were a man of many of moods and personalities. You were a man small in stature, but you had more charisma and personality in your pinky finger than most people have in their entire body.

I hope you are at peace. I hope that you're reunited with Grandpa and Grandma. I hope they give you the longest, most loving embrace you've ever experienced. You are someone that I've always thought about daily. That doesn't change now, nor will it ever. I Love You, Uncle Sham.
