In memory of

Pui Chi Yung Tom 譚翁佩芝

September 29, 1929 -  October 29, 2024

Mrs. Pui Chi Yung Tom, 95, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2024.

Pui Chi will be profoundly missed by her devoted husband, Francisco; her cherished children, Angela, Sally (Clement), and Agnes (Kam Chuen); and her beloved grandchildren, Carmen (Justin), Grace (Jason), and David (Cally).

Born on September 29, 1929, in Hong Kong, Pui Chi grew up in a family of eight siblings. Despite her family's affluence, she was raised to value hard work and dedication, striving to contribute and support those around her. She exemplified the spirit of a modern woman—stylish, intelligent, confident, and independent.

In 1954, Pui Chi married Francisco Tom. This October, they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Together they raised three wonderful daughters: Angela, Sally, and Agnes. She was determined to work diligently to provide a better life for her daughters. She was a well-respected primary school teacher for over 30 years. Her kindness and generosity fostered and enriched her long-lasting relationships and friendships. In the early 1960s, Pui Chi became a Christian and has never deviated from her faith despite all hardships. In 1986, Pui Chi and Francisco moved to Canada, where she retired from her career as an educator. From then on, she dedicated all her time to her family. She loved travelling to different places to explore diverse cultures and taste delicious food.

A visitation will be held at York Cemetery and Funeral Centre (160 Beecroft Rd, Toronto, ON, M2N 5Z5) on Tuesday, November 5, at 1:00 p.m. Funeral and interment will follow at 1:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, all contributions collected by the family of Pui Chi Yung Tom will be donated to the Markham Stouffville Hospital Foundation.

We invite you to join us in honouring her memory and celebrating a life well lived. Let's remember the joy she brought into our lives and the love she shared with us.
