Obituary for Potenciana Lising Dela Cruz

We are saddened to announce the peaceful passing of Potenciana Lising Dela Cruz, who passed away on March 30th at around 3:30 AM at the age of 90.

Born in Panaque, Tarlac, Philippines, Potenciana lived a full and meaningful life, spending half of it in the Philippines and the latter half in Canada. In April 1994, she made the move to Canada, where she devoted her time to caring for her children and grandchildren, creating a home filled with love, warmth, and laughter.

Potenciana, lovingly known as “Lola” (grandmother in Tagalog), will be remembered as a loving, funny, considerate, and deeply caring woman who was always full of life. She was constantly smiling, and it is hard to recall a moment when she was ever upset—her joy and positivity were simply part of who she was.

She was known for her strong faith in God and her deep devotion to her family. Lola loved to cook and always made sure there was food ready for everyone. She took great pride in caring for her grandchildren, ensuring they were always looked after, well-fed, and surrounded by love. She also enjoyed her daily coffee and often made coffee not only for herself but for others.

Lola had a love for walking and staying active. One of the fondest memories shared by her family is their time walking together in the parks of Orillia, where she would often lead the way and outpace everyone, lapping the rest of the group with ease.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Rufino Dela Cruz, and her eldest child, Augustin Dela Cruz.
She leaves behind her loving children: Felisa Calanza, Teresita Carreon, Corazon Magtangcob, Reynaldo Dela Cruz, Victor Dela Cruz, and Edwin Dela Cruz.

She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren: Vaness Calanza, Ramon Calanza, Shiela Dela Cruz, Rhea Dela Cruz, Michael Carreon, Jessica Magtangcob, Samuel Dela Cruz, Rona Dela Cruz, Lourdes Calanza, Melissa Calanza, Vincent Dela Cruz, Rebecca Dela Cruz, Alfonso Dela Cruz, Augustin Jr. Dela Cruz, John Dela Cruz, Gabriel James Dela Cruz, Jacob Dela Cruz, Alexander Dela Cruz, and Abigail Dela Cruz, as well as her great-grandchildren: Ethan Calanza, Raymond Calanza, Noah Dela Cruz, Isaiah Dela Cruz, and Elijah Calanza.

Potenciana will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her legacy of love, faith, and family will live on in all those whose lives she touched.
