In memory of

Pierre Maurice Lavallée

May 29, 1963 -  March 30, 2023

Pierre Maurice Lavallée (b. May 29, 1963) passed away on March 30, 2023, after a battle with cancer. He was a brilliant, generous, and caring husband, father, friend, and colleague; and a gifted cook – friends worldwide have fond memories of Pierre's Perfect Paella and Make Your Own Sushi nights. He was also a born teacher and mentor, with nothing too big or too small for his attention – people tell stories about how Pierre guided their career, encouraged them to see and believe in their abilities, taught them how to use the earliest version of Excel, or showed them how to tie a proper sailing knot. Pierre loved spending time outdoors. He was an avid sailor, golfer, and gardener. We were so lucky to have him in our lives and he will be with us forever. Pierre is survived by his wife, Fern; his daughters, Madeleine and Isabelle, his mother, Yolande; and his siblings, Christine, Annie and Francis. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre, 375 Mount Pleasant Road, Toronto, ON. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Disabled Sailing Association of Ontario: https://disabledsailingontario.com/donors/

A link to livestream the service will become available at the top of this page at approximately 1:45 pm on Wednesday, April 5th.

I learned a lot working with Pierre at Bain & Company, and we stayed in touch long after we both moved on to new opportunities. With boundless energy and his signature bow tie he would bounce into a meeting room and coming out of the discussion you had ten thoughts and ideas to follow up on. Seven didn't pan out, two were useful but one was pure gold - a fresh perspective or a deep insight. Pierre will be missed, but we are all better for having the privilege to know him.

My heart is very heavy upon seeing the notice of Pierre (Mr. Lavallée) passing. He will be remembered fondly, I have and will miss seeing him at the RCYC. He always made me feel respected and when he could he would stop and chat about anything.
My thought's and prayers are with you Fern, Isabelle, Madeleine and the whole Lavallée family.

Dear Fern, Madeleine, and Isabelle.

Our sincere condolences. We were very sad to learn this when we were reading the Globe on Monday. We are making a donation to disabled sailing in Pierre's honour, but more personally, we are lucky and grateful to have had time with your family and Pierre ( and Frank) while they coached at Leaside.

Best wishes,
Larry, Isobel, Charlotte and Lauren Biricz

“The CIB’s Board Members and management are truly saddened by Pierre’s passing. Pierre was a gentlemen who dedicated his time and talent in both the private and public sectors. His calm demeanor, integrity and inclusive leadership set the tone and inspired everyone who joined the Canada Infrastructure Bank during its start-up phase. It was a privilege and honour to work with him.

While Pierre was with us for only a short time – it was a key time. Pierre’s commitment to the CIB’s people and purpose enabled the organization to not only get started, but he also laid the essential foundation for what was to follow. His achievements have made enduring impact in improving the lives of Canadians. He will be missed. We offer our deepest sympathies to Fern, his children Madeleine and Isabelle, as well as his entire family during this difficult time.”
