In memory of

Phyllis Milford

October 29, 1933 -  April 9, 2020

MILFORD (née McCraney), Phyllis Louise - Passed away peacefully from natural causes on Thursday, April 9, 2020 at the age of 86. Predeceased by her husband of 44 years Raymond “Murray” Milford. Cherished mother of Rob (Theresa “Terry”) and loving grandmother to Ryan and Athena. Sister to Bernice and Sandra (predeceased). She will be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Phyllis was born and raised in Oakville, Ontario, daughter of Ollie and Thelma (née McQuoid) McCraney (both predeceased). She graduated from the School of Nursing in Brantford, Ontario in 1956. Phyllis and her best friend Lola Garvey (née Hamilton), both registered nurses, worked and traveled throughout the United States (Texas, New York, Ohio and Florida) in the late 1950’s and into the 1960’s. What great adventures they had together! Returning to Canada, Phyllis worked in what was then the Toronto Princess Elizabeth Hospital in the cancer unit before marrying in 1966. Partnered together, Phyllis and Murray successfully ran Mississauga Concrete for almost 30 years. She continued to volunteer throughout her life, in her giving spirit, in school classrooms, as a hockey mom, supporting the terminally ill and playing an active role in various political campaigns.

The family would like to show appreciation to the staff at Royal Terrace Long Term Care facility in Palmerston, Ontario who gave exceptional care and dedication to Phyllis in her last weeks.

A private graveside service for the immediate family will be held at Meadowvale Cemetery due to current gathering restrictions. A celebration of life will be planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Oakville Hospital Foundation to support the front line workers during this global crisis, to the COVID-19 Relief Fund:
