Passed away peacefully in her 98th year on Saturday, March 23rd at the Langstaff Care Community in Richmond Hill. Predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Austin Minor. She is survived by her two sons, Kevin (Anna) and Kerry. Loving grandma of Julie, Kathleen, Grant, Lisa and Allison; great-grandmother to Elise and Frederic. Phyllis is survived by her dear sister Kate Insley and brother, Clive Rennie. Deceased before Phyllis was her brother James Lang, and her sisters, Jean Anne Lang and Lorraine Proud.
Phyllis was the daughter of Lloyd Lang and Lucy Johnstone and grew up in Sundridge, Ontario. As a teenager, Phyllis attended Alma College in St Thomas, graduating in 1943. In 1949 she married Kenneth Minor of Port Colborne. Phyllis was a long time resident of Richmond Hill, and worked for the YRRCSSB, retiring from there in 1992. Phyllis was very independent and lived in her own apartment until she was 96. As a result of a fall and broken leg she moved into assisted living last year.
Phyllis loved spending her summers with family and friends at her cottage in Sundridge. Fishing was one of her favourite things.
Special thanks to the wonderful and caring staff at the Langstaff Care Community.
A service and burial for Phyllis will be held later this summer in Sundridge. Donations in Phyllis’ name can be made to the Cancer Society or your favourite charity.
