In memory of

Peter Stathakos

April 10, 1945 -  July 27, 2023

Our loving dad, Peter, sadly passed away yesterday. Our dad was truly one of kind. He had a zest for life like no other – he loved a great party and enjoyed being social, surrounded by friends and family. He was born in Chrysafa, Sparti in Greece on April 10, 1945 to his proud parents, Irene and Aristidis Stathakos. He fondly shared many stories of his childhood in the olive groves of Chrysafa, often getting into mischief with his three older brothers – Petro, John and Dimitraki. He came to Canada in his early 20’s and built wonderful friendships that he cherished until his final days. As a bachelor with limited cooking skills, he often frequented restaurants across the city – Swiss Chalet at Bloor and St. George was one of his favorites. This is where he became enamoured with a beautiful waitress, Yiannoula, who he quickly charmed and married – our mother. They built an incredible life together – they were married for 47 years and had three children: Irene (married to Gus Tsoraklidis), Lina (married to Michael Reimann) and Christina (married to Martino Calvaruso), and four energetic grandsons: Lucas, Christian, Evan and Tommaso. We were lucky to have such an amazing and devoted man to call husband and dad. He had many loves – his family, his grandsons, cars, sweets of all kinds and his infamous dad lines.
Some of our favourites include:
“Hello ladies, are you going to the club, can I come?”
“Do you pay hydro, NO? Because I DO!”
“Would you like some Ouzo?” to anyone that would visit
“When is dessert?” (directly after finishing his last bite of food)
His generosity and willingness to help others was special, and he always saw the good in people. We will truly miss his energetic presence and infectious smile.
Miss you & love you Dad. You will forever be in our hearts.
