Peter Shizuma Ito

Peacefully, on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Scarborough General Hospital at age 87. Dear brother to Tomoko Suzuki (Jim) Calgary, AB, Haruko Nakashima (Frank), James Ito (Eiko), Mary Shiraishi (Bob), Anna Takashiba (Bob) Vancouver, BC, Katie Nakagawa (Shig) Lethbridge, AB, Kenji Ito (Sandra) Burnaby, BC and predeceased by siblings Yasuko Tsuchiya (John) and Mark Ito (Miyo). He will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews and their families. Peter was a talented artist and graduated from the O.C.A. Peter worked for 37 years at Maclean Hunter and The Financial Post as an Art Director before retiring to continue his interests in watercolor and sumi-e painting, playing tennis and singing karaoke. Family and friends will be received at PINE HILLS VISITATION, CHAPEL & RECEPTION CENTRE, 625 Birchmount Road, Toronto, (416-267-8229) on Saturday, August 20th from 3-6 p.m. A private funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers or koden, donations may be made to the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre or Toronto Buddhist Church.
