父親於1930年11月15日在香港出生,父親家中有五兄弟姊妹,他排行第三。雖然家境普通,加上生長在戰亂期間,但父親仍然勤奮好學爭取學習機會,而且他能夠寫出一手好字,令到子女孫兒都十分佩服。
感謝主,父親從小就認識耶穌,是第三代的基督徒。特別曾祖母杜承恩女士對他的影響甚大,曾祖母從小就用聖經教導他成長,以致他日後成為一個愛神愛人,也愛家庭的人。
父親雖然教育水平不算高,但是他憑着天父所賜的特質,做事盡忠,既細心又整齊。在工作崗位上總是盡心盡力,因此老闆們都很器重他。他早年主要投身在志誠行、北京貿易公司及茂生行,從事工藝品及珠寶買賣,好不容易養大四個姊姊和我,要養活一家七口確是不容易。
父親的嗜好都總是跟家庭有關係。例如修理、縫紉、攝影、旅遊及書法,家裏的大小事務,他都是一手包辦,是妻子兒女眼中的”萬能士”。父親下班時,常常會帶著雪糕回家,飯後一家人看電視吃雪糕,看到妻兒幸福喜樂的樣子,相信這就是父親最大的滿足。認識他的朋友弟兄姊妹都知道,他是一等一的好好先生。或許父親沒有什麼豐功偉績,但是看到我母親總是溫柔賢淑、圓圓潤潤⋯再看看我們五個子女各有成就、孝順父母,相信這就是父親最大的成就,他亦滿懷安慰。相信父親熱愛家庭的態度及父母的孝敬,已經深遠地影響我們五姊弟的家庭。

在香港我們家一直參加基督教九龍五旬節會聚會,後來父親在1995年帶着我和媽媽來到多倫多,便參加黎明山華人浸信會,父親過去20多年享受退休生活,久不久也跟媽媽出外旅遊,走遍大半個地球。過去亦十分享受教會生活,參與主日學、崇拜,後來跟着我和姊姊到恩泉浸信會聚會。同時每天都帶着媽媽參加康棋太極班,每逢大節都義務當特約攝影師,足足服務20多年。

在去年年底父親證實患上食道癌及胃癌,在神的祝福下,安然接受這個事實。雖然身患惡疾,父親心裏仍是有平安喜樂。就算去到最後的幾星期,甚至最後幾日,他仍然會開口讚美,開口感恩。直到9月6日,父親在沒有痛苦的情況下,帶着平安地回到天家!享年九十歲。
我相信我們姊弟五人,以後仍然會帶着父親熱愛家庭、孝敬父母的態度,靠着主的祝福去過每一天。父親,多謝你留下美好的榜樣,我們愛你,我們知道,有一天我們會在天家再見!
