In memory of

Peter Paul Reither

February 22, 1943 -  October 3, 2017

Peter passed away peacefully in his 75th year with his wife, Glenys (nee Williams) and children, Lauren and Eric (Teresa (nee Di Biasio)), by his side, on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at Mount Sinai Hospital.

A Master Butcher from Krems, Austria, Peter embarked on a Canadian adventure in 1968, met and married Glenys, and created a fulfilling life in Toronto, Manotick, and Oakville. Following a career with Loblaws, Peter owned and operated Reither’s Fine Food International in Downtown Toronto for 23 years until he retired in 2012. His schnitzel, goulash and many other specialties were favourites of Reither's patrons. He actively supported the community, participated in the Church-Wellesley BIA, and often catered events for the Consulate General of Austria.

Peter loved everybody’s dogs, and fed them well. He also enjoyed, skiing, travelling, renovating, baking cakes, and entertaining family and friends, especially at the cottage. Most of all, he loved his family and being Opa to his grandchildren: Kathryn, Zachary, and Sarah, whom he adored.

Those who knew Peter describe him as kind, generous, loving, fun and funny, a good man, a gentleman.

He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends in Canada, as well as his brothers, twin sister, and extended family in Austria and Germany.

Peter and his family sincerely appreciated the knowledgeable and caring support of Mt. Sinai Cardiology, especially: Dr. John Floras, Nancy and Denise, and Nurse Oscar.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides or ErinoakKids Centre for Treatment and Development. Visitation will be at The Simple Alternative, 1535 S Gateway Rd, Mississauga, ON L4W 5G6 on Thursday, October 12, 2017, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
