In memory of
Peter Mark Miller
September 30, 1946 -
April 16, 2024
A proud Canadian, Peter was born in Toronto to John and Joan Miller. Following high school, he served three years in the Canadian military, then put his technical aptitude to work at a variety of jobs repairing typewriters and burglar alarms. He found his passion for television while working at the cable studio in Kamloops, BC which led him to the Film & Television programme at Humber College, Toronto. After college, he freelanced in the industry for many years, before landing at GO Transit / Metrolinx for the balance of his working life.
Also known as The Red Wizard, Peter entertained family and friends with vibrant fireworks displays over the years. A keen photographer, videographer, volunteer and life-long learner, he was always up for an animated debate. He loved to travel to interesting destinations, sometimes to attend international car racing events. He relished spending time with family and friends, and his beloved cats. He particularly enjoyed cooking and sharing meals or taking part in a game of cards or trivia.
He will be lovingly remembered by Heather, his sisters Kim & Nancy, Heather’s sisters Donna, Marilyn, Jill and their families; also by his nieces Sophie, Avaline and Kelly, and many many friends.
Peter died peacefully at home in Malton after his long fight with prostate cancer, during which he took part in several trials and studies, hoping to advance medical knowledge in order to help others.
A reception to celebrate Peter’s life will be held on Saturday, May 18th, 2 to 5 pm at the Meadowvale Funeral Centre, Brampton. There will be a short presentation at 2:30. In lieu of flowers, donations in his honour would be welcomed by The Canadian Cancer Society, the Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario (POGO), or a charity of your choice.
