In memory of

Pearl Adolphin Phillips

February 5, 1933 -  April 21, 2021

We regretfully announce the passing of Pearl Adolphin Phillips on April 21, 2021 at Scarborough General Hospital. Pearl was a sister to Horace, Lawrence, Pauline, Peter, Stacy, Robert and predeceased by Carol, Rudolph, Dennis, Alban, Florence and Leo. Her independence and perseverance brought her to Canada in the late fifties. She was the mother of Byron and the grandmother of Anika and mother in-law to Alicia. Her spirit and joy will be missed by her family, many friends and the congregation at the Gospel Lighthouse Christian Fellowship Church. She delighted in her many visits back “home” to Trinidad & Tobago. In Toronto, she felt that it was her mission to visit friends in the hospital and in nursing homes. Pearl worked as a nursing aide for almost 30 years and she was determined to uplift the residents and make them happy. “Hotfoot” as she was known, was always on the move making the best of life. Her faith in God was her light, she was confident in the steps she took.

Pearl was a delight to talk to. She would always tell me how young and beautiful I looked, and I would tell her the same. She was always looking out for her friends, which included a neighbour of mine. I would always see her going to church and we would have to have a quick chat.
Pearl we miss you very much. Rest in perfect peace my sister

Pearl had a lovely demeanour that paved the way to a long and lasting friendship.
She was like family to me, always kind, supportive and nurturing. She loved God and served him well. May her soul rest in eternal peace.

Byron gave this letter to his Mom for Mother's Day 1995. She loved it so much she had it framed and kept it on her wall.

This picture was from my dad's (Byron) birthday and grandma took all of us out for brunch to celebrate. It was a wonderful day with her and my parents spending a beautiful time together.

I miss you and love you always and forever nana.
