In memory of

Paul Finstein

March 27, 1944 -  December 3, 2016

Paul Harold Finstein of Pickering, Ontario passed away suddenly on Saturday, December 3, 2016, in his 73rd year.

Paul was a successful entrepreneur in Durham Region, proudly wearing the uniform of his company, Paul's Pest Control Services Incorporated, for 40 years. Often referring to himself privately as "the gentleman exterminator", he considered himself fortunate and privileged to do the work he loved, every day.

Paul will be remembered and admired for his passion in, and legendary knowledge of professional sports, backcountry camping, canoeing, cars, environmental issues, and for the artistry of his handcrafted paddles.

Loving husband to Janice Wray, beloved son to Irving (deceased) and Rebecca (deceased) Finstein, dear brother to Sylvia (Sidney) Hebscher and Sheila (Morton) Katz, dear brother-in-law to George and Nancy Wray and John Reicheld and Jackie Wray.

Proud uncle to Mark (Shauna), Stephen (Dale) and Barry (deceased) Hebscher, Amy and Jennifer Katz, Danielle and Melissa Hebscher and Jake and Dean Hebscher.

Loyal and lifelong friend to Lorne Killen (deceased)

He will be sorely missed by us all, including his feline sweetheart, "Tyra"

The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the Durham Regional Police, Durham Paramedic Services and the Emergency Department Staff at Lakeridge Health in Oshawa.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Lakeridge Health Foundation would be appreciated at

I am utterly stunned and saddened by this loss. Paul was always more of a father figure, with him and my dad being practically one and the same. While we have not spoken in some time, I will miss him dearly and think of him often.

Dear Janice
Paul was the best friend ever to Lorne. He will never be forgotten for all he did for Lorne and my girls (for me too). Who will place such rocks on the headstone now. The memories of Paul & Lorne going camping, their Super Bowl get togethers, etc. Paul was the best and he will be missed.
