PAUL HUGH CROSBY
Died peacefully at home with his family by his side on November 26th. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Ann, his daughters Tecca (Allan), Darby (Richard) and Marley and adored and adoring grandchildren Lawton , Daisy, Shane and Riza. Born in Courtwright , Ontario , he grew up in Lake George in the Adirondacks and was educated at Ridley College and the University of Western Ontario . At the age of 28 he took his family to New York where he spent the next twenty five years working in the Canadian securities business on Wall Street. He was a man of many enthusiasms and interests—growing orchids and roses, living with animals but especially horses, dogs, cats, monkeys and goldfish, enjoying great food and the cooking that produced it (thank you, Laura Calder), reading (Harold Bloom’s insights into Shakeaspeare were a great joy), watching football games with his grandson and son in law, engaging in lively conversation and political debate with anyone who would dare and most of all enjoying life with “Sazz” and her artistic and individual spirit. He was a wonderful father who somehow knew everything about everything and was also a great listener. For twenty years, he defied the odds thanks to a team of dedicated doctors--Patricia McEwan, Meyer Balter, and especially his friend Eric Hatashita who was by his side through it all. Special thanks go out to the caring staff of Hazelton Place, Mt. Sinai Palliative Care who enabled him to rest peacefully at home, Snowdon Pharmacy, the PSW workers who tended to him (thank you Jean, Mary and Florence) and most of all the angels—Mira, Melanie and Vilma—our gratitude cannot be measured. His sharp mind, loving heart, dapper self and great good humour carried him to the very end of his days, we will miss him dearly but we all had a lot of fun. At his request there will be no visitation or service. Donations in his memory can be made to the OSPCA or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
